"No more campaigning," Ali told reporters when met after attending the weekly Umno management committee meeting.
He also said that he would not turn up at the meet the delegates session in Seremban tomorrow evening.
"How can I go? I am already disqualified," said Ali.
However he said he would attend the general assembly next week.
He refused to say whether he would endorse anyone for the deputy president's post which is now a straight fight between Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Tan Sri Muhammadd Muhd Taib.
Ali also confirmed that he has yet to meet the party president Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi.
"Couldn't meet him this morning because of the Conference of Rulers meeting. We will meet at the right time," said Ali.
He added that he would continue to perform his duties as the Malacca Chief Minister.
"Life goes on, I have a lot of work to do in the government," said Ali when asked on his plans.
When asked whether the management committee had discussed the disciplinary board's decision yesterday, Ali said details of the meeting are confidential.
"We discussed party matters, preparation for general assembly and the motions to be debated," said Ali.
Meanwhile Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein told reporters that the question of whether Ali should resign as Malacca Chief Minister does not arise, "because the action taken against him was within the party channel".
He added that he was touched by Ali's way in handling the board's decision as he has put the party interest ahead of himself.
When pointed out that two out of the three Umno Youth chief contenders were investigated by the disciplinary board, Hishammuddin said nobody should not be spared from being investigated.
"As long as it is done fairly and does not create suspicion that only certain candidates are investigated," said Hishammuddin.
