Perak security under control, says CPO

IPOH, March 17 - malaysianisider- Bernama

The Chief Police Officer of Perak, Datuk Zulkefli Abdullah, said security in the state was under control although there were challenges in the form of public safety due to the activities of various quarters and also criminal activities.

"The committment and earnestness of police personnel and the public has had a positive impact in the state as the crime index dropped by 2.16 per cent compared to 2007, the first such drop since 2003," he said at the Perak Police Contingent Excellent Service Awards Night yesterday.

In the function, Bernama's Perak bureau chief, Mohd Zabidi Osman, received the Perak Police Contingent's excellence award for support and cooperation in disseminating news.

Zulkefli said the Royal Malaysian Police would continue programmes that delivered quality services given that society was still worried about crime although incidences of crime had been reduced.
