PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission will meet on Friday to decide the date for the Kuala Terengganu by-election, EC acting chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said.
“The special meeting will set the date for the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary constituency by-election.” he said when contacted by mStar, The Star’s Malay news portal yesterday.
The parliamentary seat fell vacant when Datuk Razali Ismail died while playing badminton on Nov 28.
Meanwhile, the Dewan Rakyat has informed the EC of the vacancy of the parliamentary seat, triggering the process for a by-election.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin signed the letter informing the EC of the vacancy. This will be the second by-election after the March 8 general election. The first was the Permatang Pauh by-election on Aug 26.
