King comforts Razali’s family

KUALA TERENGGANU: Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin was among the dignitaries who paid their last respects to the late Deputy Education Minister Datuk Razali Ismail at his home in Kampung Batu Burok.

The King who arrived at 10.45am, spent some time comforting Razali’s family.

Deputy Minister of Higher Education Datuk Idris Harun, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Fadhilah Yusof, Kuala Terengganu Mayor Datuk Mat Razali Kassim, state PAS deputy commissioner Datuk Mustafa Ali and party treasurer Abdul Wahid Endut also paid their last respects.

Razali’s body arrived at the residence from the Bentong Hospital in Pahang at about 5.30am yesterday and was taken to the Sultan Zainal Abidin Mosque for funeral prayers after the Zohor prayers.

He was buried at the Tanah Perkuburan Sheikh Ibrahim. Razali, 59, died while playing badminton at the Aminuddin Baki Institute (IAB) in Genting Highlands on Friday.

In August, he was warded at the National Heart Institute (IJN) after complaining of chest pains.

He is survived by his wife Datin Noraini Lob Yusoff, 51, and sons, Muhammad Nurzali, 30, Asrul Shah, 27, Khairul Amar, 23, Khairul Anuar, 21, and Khairul Ariff Razali, 15.

Razali was chairman of the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) before he was made deputy minister.
