“I have the intention but not the funds,” said the 89-year-old who lost her deposit in the March general election.
“I could try a second time if there’s a sponsor. Who knows, the people may elect me as their MP if the contesting parties field greenhorns as candidates,” she quipped.
Razali died while playing badminton at Genting Highlands last Friday.
As a mark of respect, the Kuala Terengganu Umno division will only plan by-election strategies after a week of prayers. Division chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh said yesterday the division would likely nominate a Barisan Nasional candidate by next Friday.
State MCA chairman Toh Chin Yaw said the by-election would be a tough battle for Barisan but foresees victory for the coalition. Toh is the assemblyman for Bandar state seat, one of four constituencies under Kuala Terengganu parliament.
