PAS will officially named its candidate for the Kuala Terengganu by-election on January 1, party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi bin Awang said.
The announcement will be made at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.
“The candidate can be considered better than Wan Ahmad Farid,” Abdul Hadi said at a press conference in Kuala Ibai near here.
Yesterday, Barisan Nasional named Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh as its candidate to contest the Kuala Terengganu by-election.
Wan Ahmad Farid is the head of the Kuala Terengganu Umno division.
The seat fell vacant following the death of deputy education minister Datuk Razali Ismail on Nov 28. Razali had garnered 32,562 votes against PAS’ Mohamad Sabu, who got 31,934 votes, while independent candidate Maimun Yusof obtained 685 votes at the March general elections.
